Komyozenji Temple
The temple is located south of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and is affectionately known as koke dera, or moss temple. The front garden is a stone zen garden arranged to form the Chinese character for light while the rear garden is a traditional stone and moss garden. Both are worth seeing. Autumn leaves can also be enjoyed in the fall. According to the legend of Toso (Toto) Tenjin, the temple is said to have been founded in the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
