Shirakawa Suigen (Wellspring)
Shirakawa Suigen is famous enough to have been selected by the Ministry of the Environment as one of their 100 Renown Waterways. Every minute, 60 tons of 14℃ water gushes from this wellspring, and it is the source of the Shirakawa River that flows through the center of Kumamoto City. Visitors can freely take water from these springs back home, and water that has been subject to heat treatment is also sold here.
